goettl\*sowa were fanatics about helicopter art and the extreme lack of its popularity and available product line during the late middle of the last century. To the degree that the two of them had to collect loose change and hire a guy they met at a bank one day to produce a silkscreen and hand print a load of shirts that he had to dry in his moms house and backyard. The simple beginnings of the Original Friggin Jet Ranger 206 shirt.
A box of shirts with this original
print was carried by sowa in a white Ford fuel truck to Star
Valley Wyoming for the summer seismic contract season of 1982.
An instant hit with the nomadic juggy population and helicopter
drivers. First out of state sale was made at the Corral Motel
in downtown Afton , Wyoming . These two shirts are still owned
by the same dude now living in Santa Fe N.Mex., look like
hell having survived the torment of many years of seismic
campaigns, (both he and the shirts) and will soon be available
again in a very limited number (the shirt, not the dude).
Sowa is trying to find the guy at the bank who has the screens. |
